Who is God? God is Hope- Part 2

Our hope is not found in our circumstances, our abilities, or other peope. Our hope is found in the Lord Himself.

A farmer plants his seed long before he sees a harvet. He continues to water and care for the field because he expects the crop to come. His confidence is based on what he knows.

Why do we need hope?

There will be days when life seems overwhelming. David experienced fear, loneliness, and persecution, yet he continually turned back to God- waiting and expecting help from the most high God... David clung to his HOPE.

Psalms 63:8-11 shows this very thing:

"My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me. But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth. They shall fall by the sword: they shall be a portion for foxes. But hte king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by him shall glory: but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped."

The prophet Jeremiah wrote this during one of Israel's darkest times:

"It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness." -Lamentations 3:22-23

No matter how difficult today may be, God's mercy is new every morning.

Imagine a ship caught in a violent storm. The captain cannot stop the wind or calm the waves, but he watches for the lighthouse. The light reminds him that safety is near!

God's word is our lighthouse of hope during life's storms.
