Who is God? hope! Part 1

Have you ever been in a dark tunnel? At first all you see is darkness, but then, far ahead, you notice a small light. That light give you confidence that the darkness will not last forever.

Life often brings dark valleys of sickness, sorrow, disappointment, and uncertainty. During those times, God calls us to place our hope in Him.

The psalmist in Psalms 43:5 says,

"Why art thou cast down, O my soul And why art thou disquieted within me? Hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God."

David was discouraged, but instead of allowing his feelings to control him, he reminded himself to hope in God.

This begs the question, what IS hope? The world's hope is often nothing more than a wish. Biblical hope is a confident expectation, because it rests upon God's promises!

In Psalms 43:5, the Hebrew word for 'hope' is yachal, which means to be patient, trust, to tarry and wait.

When we learn who God is, hoping because of him won't feel like such a chore!

Psalms 31:24 "Be of good courange, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord."
